Despite the damp weather, 10 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and took part in a litter pick of the Castle Pond area in Pembroke, as part of the Tidy Towns project.

The group has been running since St. David's Day, and the volunteers were delighted to benefit recently from a grant from Keep Wales Tidy.

This has enabled them to purchase their own equipment and first aid packs for their monthly litter-picks, covering the Castle Pond, Mill Pond and The Commons area of Pembroke.

Mari Williams, of environmental charity, Keep Wales Tidy, commented: "It is great to see such a committed group of volunteers giving up their free time to help improve their local environment for the benefit of local people, visitors and wildlife alike.

"I am pleased that, alongside Pembrokeshire County Council, we are able to support their invaluable efforts. I look forward to working with the group on future projects."
