An estimated threequarters-of-a-million pensioners live in homes cold enough to put them at risk of hypothermia, according to the Institute of Gerontology. The older you get, the less efficient you become at regulating your temperature and the more susceptible to colder weather.
As part of Age Concern's Keep Well This Winter Campaign, Age Concern Pembrokeshire has a supply of handy room thermometers which could help older people avoid the risk of this happening to them. If you, or an older person you know, would like a thermometer, please contact Jane Jones on (01437) 769972. Alternatively, you can pick one up at Age Concern Pembrokeshire, 2A Holloway, Haverfordwest.
However, please note that the Main Office of Age Concern Pembrokeshire will be closed to the public for the Christmas holiday from today (Friday) at 4 pm, until 9 am Wednesday, January 2.
