Amroth Community Carnival held a very successful disco and buffet last Sunday evening at the Cartwheel Restaurant, Amroth, to choose this year's Carnival Queen and her two attendants.

The judges for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Rhys Lawrence, Trecoed, Amroth, who had a very difficult task ahead of them.

After much consideration, Katie Lewis, Amroth Castle, aged 12, was chosen as the Queen for 2002, with Taryn Williams, Summerhill, aged eight, and Debra Nicholas, Summerhill, alos eight, as her attendants.

The Queen was then crowned by Kaylee James, Summerhill, who was last year's Queen.

Sailors are Anthony Lewis, aged eight, Gareth Lewis, aged eight and Lorcan Williams, aged two.

Dancing and an excellent buffet provided by the committee and friends completed a very enjoyable evening.

Iit is hoped to have a big response from the children to take part in the painting and poetry competitions. The theme for this year's competition is 'Lord Nelson' who visited Amroth Castle some 200 years ago.

There are still a few pitches available to stall holders and the organisers would be pleased if you would apply as soon as possible to reserve your pitch.

The committee are desperate for volunteers to help on Carnival Day which is on July 28. They would be pleased if any person interested in helping would attend their next meeting on Sunday, July 7, at 5 pm, in the Amroth Arms.
