Over 40 students of the West Wales Wadoryu Karate Association (Pembroke Dock and Carew Karate Clubs) took part in a Karate Course and Kumite (Sparring) Competition at Tenby Leisure Centre recently.
Instructors for the day were Sensei Graham Thomas 5th Dan, Martin Morgan 3rd Dan, Paul Rogers 2nd Dan, Tony D'Arcy 1st Dan, and Stephen Walters 1st Dan.
All instructors were involved in the pre-competition training, assisting students with their techniques and strategy for the forthcoming competition.
Students were divided into age and grade categories, with the following results.
Boys and girls, five and six years: 1. Kyle Jennings; 2. Alex Bowel; 3. Lewis Bowel; 4. James Davies.
Boys and girls, seven, eight and nine years, u/g - 9th kayo: 1. Sophie Thomas; 2. Evan Sheldon; 3. Joseph Sivaprakasam; 4. Grace Thompson.
Seven, eight and nine years, 7th kyu and above: 1. Angharad Boswell; 2. Ryan Christopher; 3. Thomas Boswell; 4. Bryan Davis.
Girls 10-12 years, 7th kyu and above: 1. Ffion Cadogan; 2. Abi Goodrick-Lathan; 3. Niamh Pugh; 4. Katey Briskham.
Boys: 1. Rhys Parsell; 2. Ryan Edwards; 3. Elliot John; 4. Peter Orchard.
Men's: 1. Paul Rodgers; 2. Ian Williams; 3. John Cressey; 4. Lynn Christopher.
