Crymych nil Narberth 22 pts.
In the Pembrokeshire Cup competition for second teams, Narberth Athletic overcame both the weather and a spirited Crymych team to lift the Pembroke and District Junior Union Worthington Cup at the Parc Llwyn-Ty-Gwyn ground in Whitland.
The wet and windy conditions combined with the low temperature made the evening more autumnal than spring-like, but both teams attempted to play open rugby despite the difficulties.
The Athletic had the edge up front, both in set-pieces and in the loose, so that the Narberth backs had more chances to run the ball and to set up try-scoring opportunities.
Two unconverted tries, by centre Craig Barnett after a good handling movement and scrum-half Andrew Davies from a scrum near the posts, gave the Athletic a lead of 10 points at the break.
After the interval, the Athletic added two more tries. Winger Tim Plumb finished a move well after 15 minutes for an unconverted try and lock Jason Jennings, who had played a key role up front, went over in the corner after 30 minutes following good work by the Narberth pack.
A superb touchline conversion by fly-half Rhodri James added the icing to the cake.
Narberth's director of rugby development, Ken Davies, was smiling broadly after the final whistle, despite being drenched by the rain.
He said: "Hopefully this can be the springboard for Narberth Athletic and if this side can stick together and train regularly who knows, we might be able to challenge the likes of Llandovery next season in the league."
