Pupils from Golden Grove School (Ysgol Gelli Aur) have won this year's Junior Road Safety Officer Competition. The team of youngsters beat off a strong challenge from Hakin Juniors, Haverfordwest VC, Johnston Primary, Lamphey Primary and St. Mary's RC schools. Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council's road safety unit, the finals of the annual competition were held earlier this month at the Picton Centre, Haverfordwest. Youngsters had to undertake several tasks, including hazard perception, road sign awareness and a road safety quiz. The teams were made up of junior road safety officers, who have highlighted the issue of road safety at their schools throughout the year. They were presented with prizes, shields and certificates by Clr. Jamie Adams, cabinet member for transportation and the environment. He said the annual competition had proved to be very successful and helped schools highlight the issue of road safety.
