At St. Andrew's Church, Pembroke Dock, last Thursday, winners of the Pembroke and District Male Voice annual Junior School Choral Competition took to the stage in a church full of proud parents, friends and members of the community.

Welcomed to the church by the minister, the Rev. Martyn Evans, the first placed winners, Pennar School, conducted by Claire Thomas and accompanied by Debbie Kaijaks, sang two pieces, as did second place winners, Stackpole School, conducted by Elizabeth Thomas and accompanied by Lisa Richards.

Pennar School received the Wilf Johns Trophy presented by a family member, Mr. Bob Ridley, while Stackpole School were presented with the Gordon Davies Cup by Liza Howie and Daniel Davies Breeze, Mr. Davies's daughter and grandson.

Cheques for £75 for first place, £50 for second place, and £25 each for the other competing schools, Sageston, Monkton Priory and Golden Grove, were presented by Frank Harries, Pembroke Choir chairman, and their conductor David Gwynn. Each school also received a specially inscribed photo of their choir.

The Male Voice Choir, under their conductor David Gwynn and accompanied by Chris Lloyd assisted by Alyson Griffiths, sang six pieces during the evening, while the most successful and rewarding event was compered by the Male Voice Choir secretary Phil Lloyd.
