Sir,
One morning as I entered the kitchen I saw without my glasses, an orange mess on the kitchen floor. As I drew closer to the object, I noticed it was one of the goldfish lying still on the tiled floor with the dog completley ignoring it.
The goldfish was covered in bits you would find on the kitchen floor, and as I picked it up, I saw its gill open, so I rinsed it under the cold water tap and placed it back in the goldfish bowl and dragged it backwards (like I heard many, many years ago) through the water until I saw both gills flapping. Fantastic, it survived and is a very active swimmer.
Yesterday morning, no goldfish in the bowl, not on the floor, so I checked my handbag on a stool nearby, and not in there either.
As I looked carefully I could see his head poking out from under the microwave and guess it had flapped around and got jammed. I picked it up and placed it back in the water and held it upright once again and it survived once again..
I always hear the goldfish jump and I have today placed a fishing net mesh over the top. Laughing as I write...
Alyson Horton,
