THE Tenby and District branch of the Labour Party will welcome Julie Morgan, MP for Cardiff North, as guest speaker to their first monthly meeting on May 16.

A former social worker and assistant director of the Barnardos charity, she entered parliament in May 1997. Since her election, she has been a member of various Commons Select Committees on Welsh Affairs, Public Administration and Consitutional Affairs. She has campaigned for Women's Rights and the Welfare of Children. She chairs the all-party parliamentary group for Children in Wales.

A radical thinker, she believes in using her parliamentary vote according to her strong personal beliefs.

She is married to Welsh Assembly First Minister Rhodri Morgan and has three grown-up children.

Julie Morgan MP will speak at 11.30 am at St. Teilo's Church Hall, Tenby, on Saturday, May 16. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. A warm welcome is extended to local voters, members, supporters and friends.
