Tenby's Deputy Mayor has said that she is pleased to see that long-running plans to develop a toddler play area at Jubilee Gardens have finally been given the go-ahead.
Tenby Town Council's application to the Capital Play Fund for financial assistance in developing the play area, which overlooks the South Beach, was approved at a meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council's cabinet.
"It's really good news, as when I first sat on a meeting of this council a couple of years ago, it was being discussed then, so it's very pleasing to see that there's finally a light at the end of the tunnel," said Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans, at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, which she chaired in the Mayor's absence.
She also thanked former town councillor, Mrs. Kerri Durham, along with Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, for their hard work down the years in getting the scheme off the ground.
The town council will now enter into a lease of the area and will be responsible for development, all future maintenance and good repair of the play area.
Town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told members that the next step was to order in equipment for the toddler park.
