Tenby councillors were informed at their meeting on Tuesday evening about details concerning the closure of the town's Jobcentre. Details were given in a letter received from Pam Sutton, district manager of Jobcentre Plus, who wrote: "I can confirm that we will discontinue use of the premises at Ruabon House, South Parade, once the new Jobcentre Plus process is fully functional in Pembroke Dock Jobcentre Plus office from February 2006." Mrs. Sutton also went on to reveal that they intend to continue to provide an alternative service in Tenby using other premises and were currently considering options. "This service will take the form of a jobpoint and a 'warmphone' for enquiries, and I will ensure that disruption and inconvenience to your community is kept to a minimum," she continued, stating that they hoped to continue to deliver a useful service for the community of Tenby by becoming more accessible, making more of their services available by telephone and through internet.
