There was a touch of film industry glamour at Pembrokeshire College's Merlin's Theatre last week for the premiere screening of a newly completed film called Shoppers.

Pembrokeshire County Council's Jigsaw Children and Youth Partnership commissioned the production of the film in association with Youth Gateway, Youth Offending Team and Dyfed-Powys Police.

The film dramatises the thrill, but also the harsh consequences of shoplifting for two young people, Shelly and Danz, played by Sian Deason and Darren Connolly.

Joy Davies and Wayne Griffiths also star. Phil Coneran and Alan French produced a fine soundtrack.

Pembrokeshire County Councils senior youth development worker, Geraldine Murphy said: "This stylish film was written and produced by young people and will be used in schools and youth groups as part of a peer education project to help raise awareness about shoplifting.

"The director Simon Worley, producers Chloe Osborne and Emily Wood and cameraman/ editor Marcus Beck all deserve praise for their hard work and commitment.

"The Jigsaw project wishes to thank all the young people who worked so hard on the film and all the shops and businesses who lent their support."
