While I have no intention of conducting an argument with Mr. Tom Baker through your letters page, I feel that a response is necessary to his letter published in your August 12 edition.
While the questionnaires were only requiring a YES/ NO answer, jetskis were not specifically mentioned. He stated that the response to this questionnaire was good, with 63 per cent in favour of his proposal to allow jetskis to launch from Amroth slipway.
What he did not say was the percentage of questionnaires returned, so this 63 per cent is totally meaningless.
I have had only one local person approach me to allow the return of jetskis, and he suggested a high launch fee to obtain revenue from them, but I have had many in support of the ban on launching. This support on the ban has increased over the last week since Mr. Baker's letter was published and the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl killed by a jetski in Cyprus. Clr. Tony Brinsden, Llanteg.
