The morning service in Jeffreyston Church on the second Sunday before Lent, was led by the Rector, Fr. Paul. It was a specially combined service of the Holy Eucharist, along with the celebration for the Sacrament of Marriage. Jeffreyston Church was well attended for the occasion.
The readings were Proverbs 8.vv 1 and 22-31 and Colossians 1.vv 15-20. The Gospel reading was John 1. vv 1-14, where we read that The Word Became Flesh.
For his interesting sermon, Fr. Paul took, as a text, verse 3 of the Gospel reading, "all things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made."
He also referenced words from verses 25 and 27 of the readings from Proverbs, "Before the mountains had been shaped, before the hills, I was brought forth. When He established the heavens, I was there."
Fr. Paul reminded us that God delights in His Creation and, although perhaps we do not show enough gratitude, God still loves us. He urged us to bring the light of this to others.
At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show to the congregation examples of the coloured mobiles made in the Sunday School. These showed the Sun, Moon and Stars and carried the words 'Jesus came to save the World.'
Later in the church we all were offered refreshments, kindly provided by the Mothers' Union.
