The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning Eucharist service in Jeffreyston Church on Sunday, Trinity 23, also called Bible Sunday.

The readings were Leviticus 19.vv 1, 2 and 15-18 and first Thessalonians 2.vv 1-8. The Gospel reading was Matthew 22.vv 34-36, where we read of the Greatest Commandment and the question 'Whose Son is Christ?'.

Fr. Paul used as a text verse 36 of the Gospel reading 'Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?'.

In an interesting review, Fr. Paul said that the reply from Jesus quoted from both Deuteronomy chapter 6 and Leviticus chapter 19: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself'. Fr. Paul added that Jesus taught that anyone in need is considered to be a neighbour.

Fr. Paul led Evensong in Jeffreyston Church. The morning readings were repeated. In his sermon, Fr. Paul expanded on the teaching from Matthew chapter 22. He reminded us that the love of God is universal, but not judgemental. He also encouraged us to read the Holy Scriptures and act accordingly.
