The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning service in Jeffreyston Church on Trinity Sunday, May 18. The readings were Isaiah 40.vv 12-17 and 27-31; 2. Corinthians 13.vv 11-13. The Gospel reading was Matthew 28.vv 16-20, where we read of Jesus with his Disciples, telling them about the Great Commission. For his sermon, Fr. Paul chose, as a text, words from verse 20 of the Gospel reading: Jesus said: "I am with you always to the close of the age." In an interesting sermon, Fr. Paul explained the Gospel reading and text. He said that we all need God's grace, and as we obey the Great Commission we have comfort in the knowledge that Jesus is always with us. At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show the congregation the coloured spinning tops made in the Sunday School. These carried the words: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. William then led us in the closing prayer based on the theme of the day. On Wednesday, May 28, in Jeffreyston Church Hall, between 2.30 and 4.30 pm, we meet for Cream Teas. All are welcome at this joyous event. There will also be various stalls, cakes, bottles etc. Services for Sunday, May 25, are: 9 am - Eucharist, East Williamston; 10.30 am - Eucharist and Sunday School, Jeffreyston; 12 noon - Eucharist, Reynalton; 6 pm - Evensong and Service of Remembrance for those who lost their lives in the Mining Disaster 1936.
