The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning Eucharist Service in Jeffreyston Church on Sunday, the third after Pentecost. The readings were: Kings 21.vv 1-10 and 15-21; Galatians 2.vv 15-21. The Gospel reading was Luke 7, verses 36 - ch. 8 verse 3, where we read of Jesus being anointed by a sinful woman. In an interesting sermon, reviewing the readings, Fr. Paul chose as a text words from the Gospel reading, 'Jesus said to her your sins, which are many, are forgiven. Your faith has saved you, go in peace'. Fr. Paul reminded us that we are all sinners, who need forgiveness, by the grace of God. At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show the congregation the coloured worksheets made in the Sunday School, relating to sin and forgiveness, as per the Gospel of the day. Afterwards, the Sunday School pupils came out to the front of the church and gave a well-voiced presentation of the Gospel story. The closing prayer, to reflect this, was read out by William. Services this Sunday are: 9 am - Eucharist, East Williamston; 10.30 am - Eucharist and Sunday School, Jeffreyston; 12 noon - Eucharist, Reynalton.
