Rev. David Faulkner was the celebrant at the morning Eucharist service in Jeffreyston Church, on Sunday, the last before Advent, previously known as 'Stir-up Sunday.' The preacher was Fr. Paul. The readings were Daniel 7.vv 9-10 and 13-14, Revelation 1.vv 4-8. The Gospel reading was John 18.vv 33-37, where we read of Jesus before Pilate. For his sermon, Fr. Paul highlighted words from verse 36 of the Gospel reading 'Jesus answered my kingdom is not of this world'. In discussing the Gospel reading, Fr. Paul reminded us that Jesus lovingly welcomes us in mind, body and spirit into his divine kingdom, even the most seemingly hopeless. At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show the congregation the beautifully coloured cards, also the well made pudding mixture, all made in the Sunday School. We were then treated to a poem written by Hannah and the closing prayer was led by Emma June. On departure from the church, everyone was invited to stir the pudding while saying a silent prayer. Rev. Sylvia Temple was the celebrant at the Eucharist service which followed in St. James' Church, Reynalton. The preacher was again Fr. Paul. The earlier readings were repeated. In his sermon, Fr. Paul expanded on the teaching from the Gospel of John chapter 18. He said that we should prayer that God's Holy Spirit will change our lives.
