The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning Eucharist services in Jeffreyston Parishes on Sunday, the fourth before Lent. The Bible readings were Isaiah 40.vv 21-31, Corinthians 9.vv 16-23. The Gospel reading was Mark 1.vv 29-39, where we read of Jesus healing many people and then praying in a solitary place. In discussing the Gospel reading, Fr. Paul exhorted us to take a little time out each day to pray quietly to God and ask to be renewed, also seeking His way for us. He impressed on us to always remember that God loves us. At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show the congregation the prayer books and lovely coloured drawings which had been made in the Sunday School to highlight prayer as the theme of the day. Jack and Sam also took this up when they beautifully read out the closing prayer. Thanks were expressed to all those who supported, helped and donated prizes for the Friday Bingo Evening held in the Village Hall in East Williamston. The sum of £150 was raised for the Restoration Fund for East Williamston Church. Fr. Paul led Evensong in Jeffreyston Church. The Old Testament reading was Isaiah 52.vv 7-12 and from the New Testament the Gospel of Matthew 13.vv 44-end, where we read the parables of the kingdom of heaven and of a prophet without honour. During the service, Fr. Paul again encouraged us to pray each day for God to strengthen our faith, since prayer is the vital link between God and us. The church services for this Sunday are: 10.30 am - Eucharist and Sunday School, Jeffreyston; 12 noon - Eucharist, Reynalton.
