There was good attendance in Jeffreyston Church on Sunday morning, the 11th Sunday after Pentecost. The service was a combined service of Baptism with Eucharist, led by the Rector, Fr. Paul. We were happy to welcome Ellie Ffion Adams, who was supported by her parents, godparents and friends. The Bible readings were Romans 9.vv 1-5 and Gospel reading Matthew 14.vv 13-21, where we read of the miracle when over 5,000 people were fed. In his sermon, Fr. Paul highlighted the command of Jesus, as shown in Matthew, chapter 28, verse 19. 'Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'. Fr. Paul said that Baptism was a joyous occasion when we welcome the candidate into new life as a Christian, being blessed by the Holy Spirit. He added that we have a wonderful friend in Jesus. A happy crowd assembled at the kind invitation of Rosemary and Delme Killa in the afternoon at Catershill Farm, for very tasty cream teas. All proceeds are for Reynalton Church. In his remarks at the end. the Rector thanked all involved, with a special thanks to those in Lawrenny parish who loaned awnings for the event.
