The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning Eucharist service for the Second Sunday after Christmas.

The readings were Isaiah 45 vv22-25; Galatians 4 vv1-7, and the Gospel reading was John chapter 3 vv16-21, which is part of the teaching that Jesus gave to Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.

Fr. Paul took as the text of his sermon verse 16 of the Gospel reading 'For God so loved the world that He gave us His only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life'.

Fr. Paul said that we could find God in the most unexpected places, such as in people in need. He went on to say that we find God in our worship services, adding that we need to encourage one another to find Him.

Thanks were expressed for all those who had contributed to the Plant Dewi Fund (Welsh Children's Society) through the house collection boxes, which had realised some £225.17 to date.

Thanks were expressed to Sylvia Allen who, through the New Year Swim, had raised the grand total to date of £140 for the Baby Units at Withybush and Singleton Hospitals.

The Rev. David Faulkener led Evensong in Jeffreyston Church, assisted by Bob Lewis. The Old Testament reading was from 1 Samuel chapter 1 and from the New Testament Luke chapter 2.

As the text of his sermon, Rev. Faulkener chose words from Revelation 21 verse 5 'Behold I make all things new'.

Rev. Faulkener encouraged us, with renewed vigour, to tell others in the coming year of the great love of God for us.

The church services for this Sunday are: 8 am Eucharist, Reynalton; 9 am Eucharist, Jeffreyston; 10.45 am Family Service, Jeffreyston; 6 pm Evensong, East Williamston.
