Sunday was a truly memorable day for some young people in the parish when they attended the morning Eucharist service at Jeffreyston.

After weeks of preparation, six candidates presented themselves to the Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Wyn Evans, to be confirmed. They were Iwan Arthur Bevans, Rosie Elizabeth Hicks, Leah Kathryn Hooper, Jack William Phelps-Jenkins, Charley Paige Prater (all pupils at St. Oswald's VC School) and Paul Christopher Fred Prater, a pupil at Greenhill School.

Unfortunately, Imogen Xania McHarg was unable to attend due to illness, but it is hoped that she will attend a confirmation service in the locality in the not too distant future.

After the service, friends and relatives of the candidates were able to meet the Bishop informally in the Church Hall when light refreshments were served by the ladies of the church.

This Sunday is the Sunday before Lent when the services will be: 10.30 am Jeffreyston; 10.30 am Lawrenny and 12 noon at Reynalton. On this Sunday, the service of Celebration of Marriage will take place when all people who have been married in the churches are warmly invited to attend to celebrate their marriage. All those who wish to mark this day for their marriages are warmly invited. This is particularly apt as Sunday is also St. Valentine's Day.

On Wednesday, February 17, Ash Wednesday, there will be the Service of Ashing and Holy Eucharist in Jeffreyston Church at 7.30 pm as we prepare for the season of Lent.
