The following matters were discussed at a meeting of Jeffreyston Community Council held recently.
Donations: After considering three applications for financial assistance, it was resolved to make a donation of £25 to the Wales Air Ambulance.
Welsh Language Scheme: Copies of the Welsh Language Scheme prepared by PALC were circulated to members, together with explanatory notes and it was resolved to adopt the scheme.
Code of Conduct for councillors: Members agreed to make a contribution of £25 to Pembrokeshire County Council towards the cost of advertising the details of times and locations where the Code of Conduct for councillors may be inspected.
Good Neighbour Scheme: Miss Rachel Gibby, Good Neighbour Scheme co-ordinator Pembrokeshire County Council, attended the meeting and informed members that 249 questionnaires had been circulated to households in the council's area enquiring whether residents would be prepared to offer any assistance to neighbours. Six replies had been received from persons prepared to assist and two from persons who may require assistance.
Due to the poor response which was disappointing, it was not feasible to set up a scheme, but it may be possible in the future to join in a scheme with neighbouring areas.
Highway matters: Various highway matters were raised, with particular reference to the amount of surface water on the highway from Loveston Church to Loveston Mill and from Yerbeston to Campshill.
Coffin Rest Cross: Members were concerned that the Coffin Rest Cross opposite St. Oswald's School had not yet been replaced and the protective structure erected. Numerous telephone calls to Pembrokeshire County Council had elicited the response that the delay was due to the inclement weather.
