The following matters were discussed at the recent meeting of Jeffreyston Community Council: Affordable housing: Information was received from Mr. Matthew Owens, rural housing enabler, of possible sites in Jeffreyston which may be suitable to provide affordable housing. Members were opposed to two of the sites on the grounds of the access not being suitable. It was agreed to request Mr. Owens to investigate other possible sites. Community Council Periodic Electoral Review: Correspondence was received from Pembrokeshire County Council including draft proposals which form part of the consultation process. At present the total electorate in the council's area is 461 with eight councillors, six of the councillors representing the Jeffreyston Ward and two the Yerbeston Ward. The 381 electors in Jeffreyston Ward are represented by a ratio of 64 and 80 electors in Yerbeston Ward represented by a ratio of 40. The proposal by the county council is to remove the warding arrangements, with a reduction in councillor numbers to six viz. a ratio of 77 electors to each councillor. Members were unanimously opposed to the proposals in view of the development taking place in the Yerbeston Ward which is increasing the population. Planning application: No objection was raised to a planning application for the erection of a building for an extension to the cattery at Cherry Tree Lodge, Jeffreyston Road safety: Complaints were received regarding the safety of residents of East Park Residential Home who travel around the village in wheelchairs, some accompanied and some alone. The existing signage does not provide adequate warning to motorists, as it is almost on the bend. It was agreed to request the county council to provide additional signs to prevent accidents occurring.
