ON Sunday, the Fourcroft Hotel's first jazz brunch of the new year features The Ben Thomas/Laura Collins Trio.

Ben, a well-known trumpeter 'from around these parts', has performed with a diverse range of contemporary artists from the world of jazz, pop and classical music. Ben has performed and recorded with some great musicians, including Brian Waite, Erika Lyons, Annie Whithead, Thad Kelly and Jim Mullen.

Laura Collins is a Welsh-born singer, pianist and 'cellist. She has studied with Lee Gibson, Anita Wardell, Norma Winstone, Tina May and Trudy Kerr. She has performed with many hot, up-and-coming musicians and got to sing with the Jacob Karlzon Trio.

Mike Britton is a jazz guitarist in the mainstream melodic tradition, with influences including Charlie Christian, Barney Kessel, Wes Montgomery and Tal Farlow. He has been a regular contributor to national broadcasts over two decades, linked with British and American touring names, Jack Emblow, Bobby Shew, Bill Lesage, John Critchison, Dick Morrisey, Bobby Wellins and Mike Carr.

Together, the trio makes great music out of favourite classics and standards - this is a treat jazz lovers should not miss. It's from 12 noon until 3 pm.
