A LOCAL Tenby Jazz Band are to busk for the Tenby Friends of Tenovus, Wales' leading cancer charity, in the town's High Street, outside St. Mary's Church, between 12.30 and 2.30 pm on Tuesday, July 30.
The jazz band, aptly named 'The Brown Brothers Plus Two', is made up of local musician and retired school teacher Des Brown and his two sons Roger and Chris, plus two of their friends. The musicians are no strangers to busking.
Des Brown takes up the story: "This will be the fifth annual Tenby Friends of Tenovus Jazz Busk. We want music to fill the street and help raise money for Tenovus and their funded cancer research programmes.
"Tenovus is a fantastic cancer charity," continued Des. "It annually funds close to £3million of cancer research, care, counselling and education programmes and funds a Tenovus Free Phone Cancer Help Line (80 80 808 10 10) which is available for anyone in the UK with concerns about cancer.
"The music we will be playing will certainly set shoppers' and tourists' feet tapping, from 'Green Onions' and 'Let The Good Times Roll' to Eric Clapton's classic 'Long Grey Mare' and even one tune named 'Shake a Tail Feather!'"
Des and his fellow musicians are hoping that people will dance along the High Street not only shaking their tail feathers, but also their purses for Tenovus.
