Talented teenage all-rounder Jack Murphy is looking forward to the trip of a lifetime as he begins packing his cricketing bags to jet off to the West Indies and tour as a member of the South and West of England Under 15 team next April.
The tour party comprises the cream of the cricketing crop from the south and west of England and the whole of Wales, and Jack is the only player from the west of Wales to receive a call up as an opening bowler and middle order batsman.
The team will play nine matches in all, taking on teams in Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and finishing off in Barbados.
Last season, Jack played a big part in the Wales Under 14s team, only losing one game all season and taking wickets in most games and batting at number five.
As well as Wales, Jack made his Cresselly first team debut this year and was honoured to open the bowling in the semi-final of the Village Cup, only to lose out to the eventual winners of the competition.
Jack attends the Emerging Players programme at Glamorgan Cricket Club, as well as Welsh winter nets in Neath. He has represented Wales for the last five years as opening bowler and middle order batsman.
No-one was more thrilled with his selection than parents Colin and Laurie as well as brother Tom and sister Nia.
Each team member has been tasked to fund-raise to help towards costs by selling advertising space in the official South and West tour programme. Any persons or businesses who wish to advertise their company in the programme can do so by contacting Jack on 07846 225 431.
