Congratulations to Jack and Peggy Lewis, of Amroth, who celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary this month.

The couple were married on August 13, 1949 at St Paul’s Church, Astley Bridge, in Bolton, after meeting in Lamphey whilst Peggy was in the land army.

They moved to Egypt whilst Jack was in the Suez and returned to Bolton, Peggy’s home town with their first born Derek, and following their return John was born and lastly Elaine.

The couple made their home in Jack’s birth village of Amroth in 1969 where they have spent 50 very happy years.

They celebrated 70 years of marriage earlier this month surrounded by family and friends at their home, and enjoyed a beautiful anniversary cake was made by Julie Towers of Kilgetty to mark the occasion.

Ninety-one-year-old Jack and ninety-year-old Peggy both took pride and were very honoured to receive a card from Her Majesty The Queen and enjoyed a memorable day with their children, grandchildren - Nicola, Phillip, Maria and Jack, great grandsons - Eli and Joey, along with many other family members and close friends.
