Ivybridge RFC undertook an arduous tour to our county over the weekend when they set-off from just east of Plymouth on Friday afternoon to play a composite Tenby United XV on Saturday at noon and a composite Haverfordwest XV on Sunday. The group that travelled all those miles (in a very short space of time) was made up of club members and players that simply enjoy a tour, and the games (along with the social side) certainly reflected that. The game against Tenby was narrowly lost 41-34 and with every member of the group suffering from the coach trip, a very late Friday night (early Saturday morning...), the exertions of the Saturday game, watching both the Wales v France and England v Ireland matches down at TURFC and then going out on the town until the early hours, they were beaten at Haverfordwest 31-5. No doubt there was much sleeping done on the coach as they wearily made their long way along the M4/M5 to Cornwall and work on Monday morning! To all members of Ivybridge RFC who made (and lasted) the tour, a vote of thanks from both Tenby United RFC and Haverfordwest. In these days of leagues and professionalism, it was good to see that an old-fashioned tour can still be organised and enjoyed - by everybody
