The Rabbits resumed their winter league campaign on Sunday, still smarting from the recent defeat at the hands of Nigel Ayers's Divots - well those that got out of bed, Terry Davies.

But now it was back to more serious matters and with just about any pairing still in the running to win the league, you could almost smell the fear, or was it Mark Edwards?

It was a cold and windy start to the day - hear that Mike Hale, cold and windy. You see, this guy was on the blower to captain Mark the night before trying to convince him that Michael Fish was a good mate of his and that there was no way we playing golf today!

Mark assured him that he was confident we would be and we did. Lesson number one - don't listen to the forecast, listen to the shortcast, it's more reliable! Bet he is glad he did, because he and his partner and sub for the day, Tim Jackson (for Dorian Thomas), now sit a point clear at the top of the league - that should put a smile on Dorian's face.

He was also forced to miss the Divots game the previous week - something to do with the Dingles, visitors of his, or is he such an avid fan of Emmerdale, not sure. Let's hope for a return next Sunday, eh matey.

Nice to see Fred Adlam back safe and sound from his annual pilgrimage to the North Pole and raring to go. As it turned out, he and his partner Mick Munro, along with their opponents for the day, Gerald Hewitt and John Murphy, must have had some game, for it was these two pairs who produced all the twos on the day. Fred and Mick bagged theirs on the 12th, as did Gerald and John, but the sixth hole also saw two balls on the green, one from Gerald and the other from John... just a pity that John's was on the 10th. Mind you, he held his nerve to sink the putt on six off Gerald's tee shot to hole out for a two.

Maybe they are just as good at bunker shots; if so, can they please give some lessons to our captain and vice, Mark Edwards and Mick(the toast) Gillet. Witness was given to them in the bunker on the 10th, which was likened to a famous cigar advert. Also, it was now you see me, now you don't, as they changed positions in the bunker! In fairness, though, perhaps Mark was fatigued, as he did have to push his trolley for two holes while David Ayers did a mercy dash from the club with a new battery.

Shot of the day must be awarded to none other than Jerry (the socks) Whitehouse. Off his partner's majestic drive, he played a shot from the gods and it dropped some three-foot from the pin, which by some coincidence is also his height. Quite remarkable really, commented Mick Gillet, - not the height bit, the fact that he played a good shot.

Anyway, as I mentioned at the start, it's a very close league, as close as it has ever been. What will happen on the final day is anybody's guess, but just take a look at how many pairs could be on equal points on the last day! What a headache for the captain, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Results: Mike Hale and Dorian Thomas beat Chris Davies and Steve Watkins 1 up; Dafydd Evans and Paul Davies beat John Hunt and Terry Davies 2 and 1; Dave Morgan and Juan Cruz lost to Simon Evans and Mackie Harts 4 and 2; Mark Edwards and Mick Gillet lost to Jerry Whitehouse and Chris Smith 1 down; Fred Adlam and Mike Munro lost to Gerald Hewitt and John Murphy 4 and 3.
