AT Art Matters Gallery in Tenby, 'Déjà Vu' is a mixed show of paintings worthy of a second look, interspersed with new work by gallery artists, to make an exciting start to the gallery's programme for 2007. Watercolours are represented by Jane Read's and Peter Cronin's crisp local landscapes, Ronda Thomas's luminous still life and Jenny John's intricate layered foliage studies. Mixed media work is provided by Ruth Sargeant's burnt and melted pieces, Therese James's amusing collages of nostalgic interiors and Penny Timmis's and Ken Hayes's acrylic landscapes with pastel flourishes. Jan Fry shows her new soft focus acrylic style alongside Susan Sands's coastal views, David Beattie's large detailed pen and ink drawings and Angie Kenber's screenprints. There is new work by Martyn Vaughan Jones, in charcoal and chalk, and other more abstract pieces from Phillip Alder and Tom Tomos. Traditional oil painting by Ivan Taylor and Carole Jury, landscape and still life, contrasts with Sally Millican's ink resist boats and Sue Pomery Wilks's impasto acrylics. The exhibition of 60 paintings also includes a collectors' item lithograph by the late James Priddy and pieces by the late T. Leonard Evans. 'Déjà Vu' opened on Monday and continues until March 22, incorporating new work as it arrives. Art Matters gallery in South Parade, Tenby (next to the fire station) is open from 10 am to 5 pm every day except Wednesdays and Sundays.
