Carnival fever has gripped the area during the past week, with thousands of people lining the streets of local towns an villages to enjoy the colourful cavalcades.

The action got underway in Narberth on Saturday, where the ever-popular carnival brought the curtain down on another successful Civic Week for the town.

The day was somewhat damp, with showers persisting throughout the afternoon, but it did not dampen the spirits of entrants and onlookers alike, who revelled in the atmosphere of the festivities. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, all eyes turned to Tenby and the annual Firemen's Carnival.

The early evening cavalcade was the climax to a fun-filled day of activities at the South Parade Fire Station.

Bringing alive the the town's narrow streets with a blaze of colour and a party atmosphere, pirates and princesses mingled with characters from the Simpsons and Eastenders, as well as some footballers' WAGs.

There was also plenty of festive fun and nostalgia at Kilgetty on Sunday where this year the village's annual Bull Dog Mile Parade and Display of Historical Vehicles incorporated a Fun Day and Fete.

But the fun doesn't end there. This weekend it's the turn of Whitland and Saundersfoot to hold their annual carnivals, while yesterday (Thursday), New Hedges was due to hold an evening of fun and frolics. Phew!
