Normally at this time of the year things begin to quieten down a little at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery. Not so this year, for staff and volunteers at the museum.
Great changes are taking place on the ground floor. The shop, foyer and lower gallery are all being revamped and brought up to date.
The foyer has been redecorated and will soon be refitted to make it into a more welcoming entrance with a smart coffee bar, which incidentally has the best and most spectacular views in Tenby.
The shop has also been redecorated and is now bright and cheerful with lots of gifts to fill those Christmas stockings on sale.
The museum's popular publication 'Tasteful Tenby' is in its third reprint and is full of mouth-watering recipes, old photographs, historical facts and glimpses of the wonderful art on show in the art gallery. It is available at the reasonable price of £5.99.
The lower gallery, where restoration work has been going on for the past 18 months, is now complete and will have stylish new cases arriving in January to display the nationally important collection of geology and archaeology. There will be colourful and informative panels on the walls to add to the enjoyment of visitors.
The laying of new floors throughout the ground floor will enhance all of this work.
To facilitate this, the museum will be close for one week beginning December 8 to 12.
The museum will be open apart from this until December 19 when the staff take a well-earned break for Christmas and will re-open on January 5.
