Three new textile courses are being launched in Pembrokeshire for the first time later this autumn.
Fun Embroidery, Beginners Patchwork and Japanese Patchwork courses will be launched in Tenby, Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest on Monday, November 1.
The courses have been organised by Learning Pembrokeshire - the adult learning arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - as part of the wide range of classes they offer to adults across the county.
Tutor Chris Hammacott has over 30 years experience teaching textiles and owns her own City and Guilds independent centre.
A well known judge, writer and designer, she has run successful classes all over the UK, as well as Ireland and the US.
She promises the two-hour Fun Embroidery class will not include any 'yawn-making' embroidery techniques, but will give both experienced and new stitchers the chance to learn about felt making, Indian embroidery techniques and the wonders of Pelmet Vilene, among other skills.
The two-hour Beginners Patchwork class will teach total beginners to complete a sampler quilt in 10 weeks, while the Japanese Patchwork session (for both newcomers and more experienced sewers) includes Sashiko quilting, Omiage (the making of fabric bags) and Shibori.
The oriental session will also give people the chance to make kimono jackets, geisha dolls and colourful silk scarves.
