Sir, When reading the Narberth and Whitland Observer 'South Pembrokeshire Hunt Week ' advertising feature on Friday, November 21, I was most surprised to see Dennis Reed begging for continuity of a historic tradition with a picture of my MP Simon Hart fully clothed in hunting gear in 1995. At that time it appears he was the Jt Master and Huntsman of the South Pembrokeshire Hunt. In 1995, the hunting of wildlife such as stags, deer, foxes and hares with packs of dogs was called a sport and was legal. Surely the question that has to be asked of Dennis Reed and Simon Hart MP is: "Do you still believe that hunting our wildlife with packs of dogs for fun should be made legal again?" Many cruel traditions have been consigned to history in the past, such as bull and bear baiting and cock fighting. The time for killing animals for fun has now passed. As for ' historic tradition', I once heard tradition quoted as: "Tradition and habit are just that, excuses to leave things be, even when they are unjust and unworthy." Society has moved on and has no wish to see the return of cruelty to wildlife
