Nine members of staff at a South Pembrokeshire primary school have successfully completed their very own Ironman-styled triathlon in aid of charity.

Inspired by last month's Ironman Wales event, the ladies from Saundersfoot CP School have run, swam and cycled the same gruelling distances.

The 'Ironladies' are raising money for local girl Beth Morse, who was recently diagnosed with the rare and incurable genetic condition Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). This condition affects how the body deals with collagen, making every day for Beth a painful and challenging one.

The Bethalon started with Sian Attwell, Adele Evans and Tina Griffiths running the Cardiff Half Marathon - all in a time of under two hours 20 minutes.

Jenny Morris, Helen Jenkins, Andrea Davies and Rachel Richards completed the 2.4-mile swim section at Tenby Leisure Centre, to whom grateful thanks are extended for their generosity in donating the fees from the session to the fund.

The final part, the cycle ride, saw Mandy Stretton and Trona Proctor join their running and swimming fundraisers for a 15-mile ride starting and finishing at St. Brides Hotel, to whom thanks are extended for their hospitality.

The 'Ironladies' are hoping to raise in excess of £500. The money raised will be donated to the EDS charity and go towards the purchase of an electronic adjustable orthopaedic bed for Beth. Everyone who has taken part is hoping to have raised awareness of EDS and helped make this invisible condition visible.

Donations can still be made through the Just giving page Bethalon or text JustTextGiving code, BTUY71.
