The Inner Wheel Club of Saundersfoot celebrated Inner Wheel Day on January 10 with an international evening at New Hedges Village Hall. President Olive welcomed Inner Wheel members from the neighbouring clubs of Tenby, Pembroke, Milford Haven, Haverfordwest, Narberth and Whitland, Carmarthen and Ammanford. She was also pleased to welcome their local international friends, Reinhilde, Christina, Usha, Marlys, Vandi, Wen, June and Madeline. Representing countries in Europe, Africa and the Far East, all of them live in this area and some have worked in the community for years and continue to do so. Speaker seretary Trevena wished the guests a happy new year in Welsh and, as each guest introduced themselves, they wished members a happy new year in their native language. President Olive presented them with a gift to mark the occasion. For the rest of the evening, everyone was treated to a wonderful short programme of musical entertainment by the Quaynotes choir. Their musical director, Sharron Lusher, is a Saundersfoot Inner Wheel member and accompanied the choir. Robert Parsons gave a very informative and entertaining introduction to the selection of songs from musicals and other popular musical delights. Everyone enjoyed the recital. To end the evening, the Inner Wheel members provided hospitality to their guests with a selection of home-made desserts and coffee. Olive made a short announcement to remind everyone that their Fish and Chips Supper will be held on February 29 at the Mermaid Restaurant, Saundersfoot. Everyone is welcome and tickets are available from club members. This is always a very popular event, with the proceeds going to Wales Air Ambulance. The next meeting will be held on February 7 at the St. Brides Spa Hotel and will be a business meeting.
