The local institute for all those interested in management, the Chartered Management Institute, celebrated at their annual general meeting recently. The growth of the branch team and the increase in interest in the regular events organised to inspire and inform were testimony to the outgoing chairman, Ted Sangster, chief executive of the Milford Haven Port Authority. After four years in this post with CMI, Ted has stepped down and handed over the chair to Tom Cullen, MCMI, who has been actively involved with the institute for nine years. Tom is a lecturer in occupational health and safety at Pembrokeshire College, an NVQ assessor in management and has been involved in the delivery of CMI management programmes of study to various organisations. Tom said: "I would like our local community to gain from the events, whether members or non members of the CMI. The evening events are free, refreshments are provided and entertaining speakers provide information and stimulus on subjects that are of interest to all. In addition, the networking is a valuable part of the evening." The next event is at Pembrokeshire College on Tuesday evening, September 2. The subject is topical, 'Managing the credit crunch', and the speaker is Peter Griffiths, chief executive of the Principality Building Society. Peter hails form Tenby and is well-known in the county. All are welcome For more information, please contact Tom on 01437 753146 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
