The Inner Wheel Club of Saundersfoot held their December meeting at St. Brides Spa Hotel.
President Sue welcomed everyone to the meeting and Trevena Vincent introduced the guest speaker, local novelist and poet, Mrs. Judith Barrow, who gave a very interesting talk on her books, 'Pattern of Shadows' and 'Changing Patterns'. She gave a poetry reading and also read excerpts from her books, leaving members with the question, "What happens next?" The answer is in the books.
She told about the charity she supports, 'Care for Uganda', in which Helen Hills from Tenby is very much involved, travelling often to Uganda.
Judith explained that she and her family had spent holidays in Pembrokeshire and loved the county so much that they threw 'caution to the wind' and moved here from Yorkshire and have not looked back.
President Sue thanked Judith for a very enjoyable evening, wished her success with her next book, due out later this year, and presented her with a donation for her chosen charity.
After coffee and cake, kindly supplied by the hotel, president Sue opened the business meeting, showing the beautiful Christmas cake, made by Margaret Johns and decorated by Ros Griffiths. The cake has since been raffled and the draw took place on Monday, December 16, at the Christmas Message meeting of the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot. The winning ticket was bought at New Hedges Mini Market by Mrs. Bingham. The proceeds are in aid of HOPE which provides therapy for Multiple Sclerosis.
The club wishes to thank everyone at New Hedges Mini Market and Saundersfoot Rotary Club for their help and support.
Arrangements were made for the 'Fish and Chip Supper', to be held at the Mermaid on the Strand Restaurant on Friday, January 31.
President Sue closed the meeting wishing everyone a happy Christmas and New Year.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 9, with an In House Games Evening. Members will decide how to celebrate Inner Wheel Day on January 10.
