The Inner Wheel Club of Narberth and Whitland met recently at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth. President Helen John welcomed everyone to the meeting and expressed birthday greetings to members with birthdays during April and May. Arrangements were made for members making the forthcoming trip to the Association Conference in Bournemouth.

President Helen John gave a report on the recent District committee meeting held at the Aberavon Beach Hotel in Port Talbot and the events she had attended during the last month, including the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland's 41st Birthday Dinner.

Members were most sincerely thanked for all their hard work which made the recent lunch held in Whitland Town Hall such a great success, with entertainment provided in turns by the vocal talents of Mr. Clive Edwards and the equally talented fingers of Mr. Orville Jones on the accordian. The proceeds of this event would be split between the Fire Brigade First Response Team and the fire stations in Narberth and Whitland.

Arrangements were finalised for the next club meeting, which would take the form of an outing to Saundersfoot and a meal at the Mermaid on The Strand.

Vice-President Pearl Holding made arrangements for the club handover meeting, which would take place at the end of June.

The speaker for the meeting was Mrs. Janet Underwood. Having recently moved to the area, Mrs. Underwood had taken a stall in the Country Market held in the Queen's Hall, Narberth, selling her wonderfully made chicken doorstops. Members present were enthralled by the story behind them. President Helen John expressed her thanks to Mrs. Underwood for agreeing to speak at the meeting, bearing in mind it was her wedding anniversary that day, and wished her and her husband a happy anniversary, presenting a card on behalf of the members.
