As the clocks change at the end of the month, heralding the arrival of the summer season, an independent nursery and café near St Davids is set to open its doors for 2024.

The Perennial Garden and Café reopens for the season on Thursday March 28, and flavour of the year is Ramona ice-cream.

For 2024, Nic and Caroline Sidonio (pictured) are taking the helm of the on site café. The menu has been revamped, the interior has been redecorated and the shop has expanded its range, stocking produce and hand crafted items from local Pembrokeshire makers.

Nic has supplied the café with his renowned Ramona Italian ice cream for several years and has now taken on the lease of the café. He is joined by Caroline who will be front of house, welcoming customers as they return for the 2024 season.

This independent plant nursery, based just three miles from St Davids, specialises in herbaceous perennials. All plants are propagated on site, making it a great source for plants that can cope with challenging, local, coastal conditions.

The garden is in a sheltered two-acre plot. You are free to explore the polytunnels, growing seasonal vegetables, salads and flowers, the potager and gravel garden and two woodland areas.

Children and dogs are very welcome and over the Easter weekend there will be an Easter Egg hunt for the under 10s.

For 2024 the nursery has expanded the range of craft workshops it runs on site. Led by talented crafters, in small groups of up to eight, you can try your hand at felting, macrame, rope weaving and floral design in the verdant atmosphere of the main polytunnel.

Found on Llanrhian Road, postcode SA62 6DB, The Perennial is the result of a long standing dream of the two founding partners, Gill and Pippa. They wanted to create a productive garden and a space that brings pleasure to visitors and grow top quality plants, salad leaves and vegetables food without the aid of chemicals, pesticides or peat.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday 10.30am-4.30pm. Any changes will be notified on the Facebook page.
