Fourteen bathers braved atrocious weather conditions to take part in Tenby Boxing Day Swim's sister event in Virginia Beach, USA.
The swimmers, who like the participants in Wales, received Tenby medals for their efforts, had a James Bond fancy dress theme this year.
The eighth annual event has been organised for several years by Tenby plunge veteran Dai Roberts, who is stationed in the States with the NATO forces. "What weather we had, blowing a gale, rain and very rough seas, but we enticed and encouraged 14 brave lads (no lasses this year) into the waters and all for charity or madness and hopefully both," said Dai afterwards.
"We must say thanks for the Tenby medals, which are prized here as no other. Few have them, some even have all eight, so we are very grateful. It is the medals that keep people coming, I'm sure!" Other ex-Virginian Beachers were planning to do the Boxing Day swim in Japan, Spain and California.
