The Anchorage Social Activity Centre in Pembroke Dock recently took part in a sponsored swim for Sport Relief
The centre, which works with adults with a variety of learning difficulties, raised £1,250 for the charity.
Delyth Smith, who works at the centre suggested a sponsored swim because it is one of the customer’s favourite activities.
“We didn’t think we would raise as much money as we did or that they would take it so seriously,” she admitted
“They all put in 100 per cent. It was absolutely incredible, we were amazed.”
Initially, the plan was for only one of the two swimming groups to take part, but the idea was so popular both groups became involved.
Delyth said that the parents and carers also deserved ‘a big thank you’ for their help with raising and collecting so much money for the charity.
