Carew and Cresswell Quay turned pink last week to celebrate the achievement of the local Cancer Research UK Cymru volunteer supporters' group.

The local fund-raising committee has raised a staggering £16,000 in its first two years.

With pink the theme colour of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the volunteers held a successful celebratory pink supper with entertainment at Carew Memorial Hall on Wednesday, raising a further £740 for the charity.

The hall was packed for the finger buffet fund-raiaing event, showing the tremendous local respect for the hard working Cancer Research committee.

Everyone was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Janet Cole, chairperson of the local committee.

The evening was a great success in every way, from the delicious food provided to the high quality of entertainment given by local artists, Mrs. Sharon Lusher, Mrs. Shirley David and Mr. Colin Clarke.

During the evening, members presented the £16,000 cheque to the charity's West Wales Patron, Brigadier R. Jenkins DL CBE, on behalf Cancer Research UK Cymru.
