A TENBY woman was in the pink this week after dyeing her hair a shocking cerise to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Jane Davies, of St. Johns Hill, decided to have her hair dyed to show her support for Cancer Research UK's Get in the Pink campaign and raise money for the charity at the same time.

"Three members of my family have suffered from breast cancer," Jane told the Observer this week.

"Although I give money to charity, I've never really made an effort to fund raise myself before, so when the leaflet arrived in work I decided this was an ideal way to try and raise some funds and raise the profile of the campaign."

Jane had her hair dyed at Janina Louise, in Upper Frog Street, on Saturday, and she is grateful to Janina for donating the dye free of charge.

With support from family and friends, as well as work colleagues at PRP Training, Neyland, Jane has already raised £60 for the fund.

"My husband Mike, who is the blacksmith in Lower Park Road, and the rest of the family like the new look," said Jane. "They fully supported my reasons for doing it and I'm very grateful for all their support and generosity.

"The new style is not as shocking as they thought it would be and while the dye will eventually wash out, some people think I should keep the look," Jane continued.

"I don't think I will 'though. I'm a bit too old to turn punk now," she smiled.

Anyone who would like to make a donation for Jane can do so at Mike's workshop in Lower Park Road.
