Members of the Salvation Army in Tenby have been told 'if in doubt keep them out'.
Tenby Neighbourhood Policing Team gave a talk to the group on how to avoid being a victim of bogus callers.
The talk was part of the force's distraction burglary campaign.
Dyfed-Powys Police reiterate that if anyone is approached by someone to let them into their home, then they should not do so unless they are happy with their identity.
PCSO Mandy Goodland said: "Genuine callers do not mind waiting while their ID is checked, or will call again. A bogus caller is not likely to stay around once challenged - the message is simple - if in doubt keep them out."
Simple advice is:
Stop - look through window or spy hole, do you know the person calling?
Chain - put the chain across your door.
Check - check the ID of the caller.
