On Monday, the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot held its Annual Charity Quiz Night at The Merlewood Hotel, Saundersfoot. In spite of undergoing recent surgery, past president and founding member of the club, Ian Nicholls, took his customary role as host and question master, with his humour and wit contributing to a great social and fun evening.

After a challenging quiz, with 15 teams of four and with a variety of general knowledge questions, the winners were the team named ‘Confused of Pentlepoir’, who had led from the first round to the last. The photograph shows the happy winners, together with club president, Haydn Williams, and Ian standing behind.

Thanks go to Ian, The Merlewood Hotel and their staff, the Rotary members who turned up in best bib and tucker to serve drinks to the tables, and to the ladies who provided the refreshments. One of the questions Ian asked was ‘Which Sunday newspaper yesterday published an article claiming that the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot was hyperactive?’ This was referring to the Sunday Times supplement identifying Saundersfoot as one of the best places to live in Britain. Amongst many positive compliments about the village, was the statement ‘…the local Rotary Club is virtually hyperactive’.
