THE current exhibition on show in the Oriel Queen's Hall Gallery, Narberth, is a collection of beautifully made paintings by Kathryn Dodd. Kathryn trained as a calligrapher and this is reflected in the way she uses words inscribed into the multi-layered surface of her work. Plaster, gold leaf and gesso are employed with layers of oil glazes to achieve a superb finish to these haunting and complex works. Kathryn said in her statement: "Much of my work considers issues of memory, legacy and heredity. Exploring those metaphoric 'ghosts' which inhabit and shape us - genetics, culture, language, experience, people and beliefs." Kathryn has made her home in West Wales since 1995, coming originally from the London suburbs, with her family roots in North East Scotland. If you want to see the exhibition, though, you will have to hurry, as tomorrow (Saturday) is the last day. Also on show in the Queen's Hall are photographs on the stairs by Richard Johnson, ceramics and sculptures in Oriel Fach, and in the Cafe Q, is a mixed exhibition of work, including photographs and paintings and a new series of work by Angela Mee who graduated from Trinity College last year.
