LOCAL Marie Curie representatives are searching for volunteers to help with the collection and distribution of Marie Curie collection and daffodil boxes.

"We are looking for volunteers in all areas of South and West Wales, to co-ordinate the collection boxes that we have. The volunteers will need to be self-motivated, organised and own a car. Travelling expenses will of course be paid," said fund-raising manager Carl Williams.

Community fund-raising co-ordinator, Jane Phillips, said: "We see volunteers at the heart of our organisation. Volunteer work enables us to keep our costs as low as possible whilst still raising as much funds as possible for the Marie Curie Nursing Service."

Marie Curie Cancer Care, a comprehensive cancer care charity, provides practical nursing care at home and specialist multi-disciplinary care through its 10 Marie Curie centres. Marie Curie also provides education and training in a cancer and palliative care for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Scientists at the world-renowned Marie Curie Research Institute are at the forefront of research into the causes and treatment of human cancers.

If you are interested in volunteering for this worthwhile cause, you can contact Jane and Carl at the Marie Curie Office, 40 Walter Road, Swansea (tel: 01792 473070).
