Tenby Town Council have agreed to a request by the South Pembs. Hunt to hold a meet in Tudor Square towards the end of November.
The Hunt returned to the centre of the town last year as part of the Christmas festivities and have informed the council that it was such a successful meet, that they are keen to return again.
However, when discussing the matter at Tuesday night's meeting of the council, Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain objected to the request.
"I'm still very much against having the hunt meet in the centre of Tenby; I think we should distance the town from such an event," she said.
"To me, it's very much a public relations act by the Countryside Alliance, who hope to bring back full hunts as soon as a Conservative government is back in power," added Clr. Mrs. Putwain.
Her colleague, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, disagreed and said that the meets were a tradition long associated with the town and that last year's return was very successful and brought a lot of people and visitors into Tenby.
After a vote, the majority of councillors agreed that the hunt should be invited back.
